Rest for your Soul!

Matthew 11:28-30
"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light."
Remember the last time you carried a really heavy object? Whether it was helping a friend move or carrying that huge box from your car into the house. The feeling after you were done was true relief!
Our burdens are not always physical...they can also be spiritual and emotional and last days, months, and even years. In the Gospel of Matthew, the Lord Jesus Christ speaks directly to those that are carrying heavy spiritual and emotional weights that leave us weary and tired. As we walk with the Lord on a daily basis, we remember that Jesus' mission on earth was to address our deepest spiritual burden through His death and resurrection. His work on the cross has provided peace with God and payment for sin for all who believe in Him. When we trust in Him, he invites us to take on His "yoke and learn from (Him)." While our burdens may not cease, Christ promises to provide us true rest for our souls and the opportunity to share the relief we've found in Him...with others!
